Finally getting settled in Ouray. My stress level has dropped considerably. The office forAlpine Luddites is almost set up. Packs are going back into production in two days. Phew. Our dogs liked the move:
Jim couldn't sleep. He loves going new places.
The cutting room. die press, webbing hot cutter and grommet press.
some of the new showroom furniture I built.
But the best thing about moving so far is the riding. The quality of my training has gone up a notch since getting here. Living at 7800 ft has probably helped as much as switching all the bolts on my bike to titanium. But as Ouray is at the end of a box canyon with the snow line still just above town I ride north to Ridgway and then get on the FS roads going up and over the lower ridges. Every ride includes 1000's of feet of climbing.
Ouray county road 10. It's snowing above 8500 ft. Rain for me.
at the end of the week I'll be riding over to Lake City on a two day ride, possibly hitting Gunnison as well. The week after I plan to ride over and hook up with the Tour Divide Route to Del Norte and back.
